In case you missed it, some time ago a movie theater in Milan was transformed into a sports-oriented complex. I had the chance to visit it a few months ago, and it’s fascinating to imagine the space as both a movie theater and now as a center for sports activities.
The new function has had a positive impact on the neighborhood, providing new activities and opportunities for community engagement without disrupting its relationship with the surrounding area.
The redevelopment project by Deamicis Architetti, which covers an area of about 5,000 square meters, has preserved the perimeter and volume of the existing building, with its 1930s façade, and aims to clarify the relationships between the different parts of the complex by assigning specific roles to the existing volumes: the entrance volume acts as a point of contact with the city and historical memory, while the large hall represents the rebirth of the building.
