In Oakville, Canada, OAKV Healthcare exemplifies this capacity of design to reinvent the healthcare experience, transforming a traditional clinic into a space where medical care, comfort, and sensory attention coexist harmoniously. Designed by Montréal-based Atelier Carle, the project stands out for its sophisticated approach, challenging the typical cold and impersonal image of medical facilities while introducing warm, welcoming spaces aimed at supporting patients’ emotional and physical well-being.
At the heart of the concept is a spa-inspired design: a central double-height volume, illuminated by a skylight that diffuses natural light, defines the spatial rhythm and creates an atmosphere of calm and serenity. The choice of materials reinforces this experience: walnut dominates the interiors, bringing warmth and refinement, while the contrast with the otherwise anonymous exterior of the surrounding business center further highlights the distinctive identity of the space.
