Designed by Snøhetta as a contemporary hub for learning, knowledge sharing, social interaction and community engagement, the library features a dynamic central forum where a sculpted interior landform of stepped terraces creates a versatile communal space for visitors to relax, converse or immerse themselves in reading.
It boasts the world’s largest climate-controlled reading room and China’s largest load-bearing glass system, using innovative technology to enhance the visitor experience while being environmentally responsible.
Its sustainable design has achieved the highest achievable sustainability standard in the country through efforts to reduce both embodied and operational carbon.
