Some members of our team recently visited to explore how Hermès objects are crafted—designed to endure, be repaired, used, and passed down through generations.
Since its founding in 1837, six generations of artisans have safeguarded and nurtured their historic expertise within Hermès workshops. This heritage represents a living treasure, continuously evolving through skilled craftsmanship.
Hermès in the Making brings together artisans from nearly ten different trades within the maison, offering an exclusive insight into their expert techniques and unique knowledge. Their work embodies the core values of the French brand: preserving and advancing savoir-faire—skills deeply rooted in tradition and locality—while pursuing quality, durability, innovation, and environmental respect.
The event features live demonstrations, workshops, interactive activities, and film screenings, allowing visitors to tailor their experience according to their interests and curiosities.
This is a celebration of a culture of traditional craftsmanship, where a lineage of artisans has continually preserved and expanded their artisanal expertise since the house’s inception in 1837. The repertoire of skills remains vibrant and ever-growing.
