The Norman Foster Foundation is committed to encouraging interdisciplinary thinking and research in order to equip the next generation of architects, designers, and urbanists with the ability to anticipate the future.
The foundation, spearheaded by Norman Foster himself, has launched an educational initiative aimed at assisting aspiring architects in shaping the future of cities.
The inaugural program, called Sustainable Cities, lasts 36 weeks and is based at the Norman Foster Institute in Madrid.
It combines classroom theory with hands-on experience in three “pilot cities” and their surrounding neighborhoods.
Students will have the opportunity to interact with renowned practitioners and researchers from Foster’s extensive network, such as Pritzker Prize laureates Diébédo Francis Kéré and Alejandro Aravena.
The Norman Foster Foundation’s headquarters are located in Madrid’s vibrant Chamberí neighborhood, in a historic palace designed by acclaimed architect Joaquín Saldaña in 1912 for the Duke of Plasencia.
