Perhaps unsurprisingly, one of the sectors that has seen the least innovation in recent years is hair salons. However, there have been some notable developments, particularly in design approach and service offerings.
A great example is Curly Lab, a new hair salon in Barcelona’s Eixample district. Designed by Miriam Barrio, the space blends contemporary aesthetics with respect for the building’s 19th-century neo-Gothic and Catalan influences.
The design incorporates organic forms, natural textures and artisanal craftsmanship, with curvaceous furnishings reflecting the salon’s focus on curly hair. Earthy tones and rich textures enhance the experience, highlighting the bespoke services and paying homage to Barcelona’s craft traditions.
In a sector often seen as stagnant, Curly Lab offers a fresh perspective, combining thoughtful design and personalized service for a unique client experience.
