In my exploration of both work and passion, I’ve noticed a shift in an industry that was once static: the hair salon sector. It is increasingly merging with fashion and design, creating spaces tailored to specific audiences.
South Korea has become a global leader in fashion, lifestyle, and beauty. Here, young, savvy consumers with strong purchasing power drive continuous innovation across industries.
One standout example is Chaoreum Hair, a next-generation salon that caters to this dynamic demographic. Offering personalized services in a sleek, industrial-inspired space, Chaoreum Hair is transforming the salon experience.
Located in Busan’s Seomyeon district, Chaoreum Hair’s design by Seoul-based Design Studio HaHi departs from traditional salon aesthetics. Inspired by local hardware stores and boutiques, it combines raw materials with bold shapes. Galvanized metal, vintage timber flooring, and a neutral gray-ivory palette create a refined yet harmonious atmosphere, with stainless steel furniture and mirrors enhancing the space’s openness.
With two entrances, Chaoreum Hair’s central waiting area features communal tables and sturdy benches. Surrounding it are workstations, a shampoo area, and staff facilities—all designed for both function and style. Chaoreum Hair exemplifies how salons are becoming cultural landmarks as South Korea leads in beauty and design.
