“Hotels are much more than a place to sleep.”
Some time ago, I spent a few days at the New York property, but a few days ago I visited the recently opened Edition Hotels in Rome.
Behind the vision of the project realized for the Marriott Group is the mastery of Ian Schrager, a pioneer in design hotels since the 80s (remember the Paramount in Times Square in New York? Yes, he was the founder of Studio 54).
Yes, I was one of those who saw almost all his hotels, especially at the beginning of the new design trend: from the Morgans to the Hudson, from the Delano to the Mondrian, from the Clift to the Gramercy Park.
The hotel scene in Rome has a special energy, and recently there has been a flood of new stylish properties: The W, Soho House, Six Senses and Bulgari, to name a few.
The Edition brand has taken notice and joined the fray with a 91-room outpost.
Housed in a former Italian bank from the 1940s, this new modern property is just steps away from the legendary Via Veneto, an area immortalized in the classic film La Dolce Vita.
A characteristic of Schreger’s projects is to give each individual structure a strong personality, always accompanied by a touch of innovation, based on the type of location and city in which it is located, while maintaining some common elements that correspond to the characteristics of the strong, highly recognizable brand image.
