When you arrive in Prague, you may get the impression – as I did – that this project is somewhat out of context. But it is precisely this aspect that adds to its value.
The profound transformation of the city into a sprawling metropolis is evident, and the recent inauguration of the Štvanice pedestrian bridge earlier this year underscores this.
Designed by Czech architecture firms Bridge Structures and Blank architekti, the bridge seamlessly connects the dynamically developing districts of Karlín and Holešovice, spanning the Štvanice Island named in its honor.
The combination of architecture and minimalist design, characterized by a light structure and slender form, stands in stark contrast to the imposing presence and its impact on the cityscape is truly remarkable.
It is a clear indication of how a historic city is embracing modernity, looking to the future and prioritizing the quality of life for its residents.
