Last week in Milan marked the annual appointment with Design Week, a global symposium of creativity in its broadest sense, unmatched anywhere in the world. A week rich with inspiration, showcasing products, events, meetings, and innovations waiting to be discovered.
Among the most notable initiatives of this edition was VOCLA, a nighttime project by the founders of Alcova. Set in a disused former slaughterhouse, the space blended hospitality and curatorship in a unique format: an evening-only gallery designed to foster connections among design professionals in an informal yet highly curated setting.
We have long emphasized how Milan Design Week serves as a key platform for international networking, and VOCLA is a clear example of this. The experience featured a curated selection of experimental works—ranging from artisanal pieces to installations and prototypes—offering an alternative to traditional exhibition formats and activating a space that would otherwise remain inaccessible.
The result is a hybrid model that merges creative expression with professional exchange, demonstrating how design can act as a catalyst for new forms of social interaction and dialogue, even outside conventional spaces and schedules.
