The marriage of fashion and culture may seem unlikely and contrived, but not when it comes to Saint Laurent. I’m talking about their latest venture: a brand new bookstore in the upscale Sèvres-Babylone neighborhood on the Left Bank of Paris.
Named Saint Laurent Babylone in homage to the rue de Babylone where Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé once resided, surrounded by a remarkable art collection, the bookstore offers a mix of rare books, new publications in collaboration with various artists, and a curated selection of vinyl records.
The interior of the space has been completely redesigned, juxtaposing the raw beauty of the exposed walls with sleek, polished concrete floors and an array of contemporary furnishings and fixtures.
These include an eye-catching marble-topped display table, matching shelving units, contemporary wall shelving and a reading table with stools.
In addition, the new facility doubles as a gallery, hosting a rotating series of compelling exhibitions.
