Personally, I think the train is one of the best means of transportation, all things considered. In these times, there is a glamorous throwback to the golden age of train travel in Italy, with the return of the legendary Orient Express to our rails. Milan’s Dimore Studio is lending its theatrical touch to one of travel’s most storied names, working on the train’s interior design and livery.
The new La Dolce Vita Express will transport travelers across Italy in a sumptuous 1960s décor that celebrates Italian design legends such as Gio Ponti and Gae Aulenti.
Departing next spring, the nine multi-night voyages will whisk guests between destinations such as Venice, Portofino, Siena and Sicily aboard 12 deluxe cabins and 18 suites decorated in rich oranges, brass and fabrics reminiscent of vintage Italian style.
