The Smart City Observatory is part of the Swiss business school Institute for Management Development (IMD).
In order to improve citizens’ quality of life, the organization ranks 141 cities worldwide based on how they use technology to address those challenges.
Zurich took the top spot on the index – for the fourth time in a row! – while Oslo ranked second.
Canberra grabbed the third spot on this index. Singapore, the first Asian city to do so, came in at number seven this year for the third consecutive year.
More than 20,000 citizens were interviewed to gather this data, and they answered questions on about 15 different aspects of living in these cities.
