I see educational innovation as a form of cultural design rather than a purely functional upgrade. When architecture, research, entrepreneurship and collaborative learning are conceived together, the idea of a campus becomes an advanced laboratory: a place where rigorous curiosity and future thinking take on a concrete form.
PhiLo, designed by Bernard Tschumi Architects for Institut Le Rosey in Rolle, is presented as a structure dedicated to a futuristic vision of education. The project responds to the growth of individual and collaborative work, academic learning, entrepreneurial development and the transformations generated by artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Its value is not only dimensional, despite spanning approximately 16,000 square metres, but rooted in its ability to translate flexibility into an operational principle. Modular walls allow more than 1,000 configurations across 90 classrooms, creating an environment capable of adapting to different methods, groups and purposes. Alongside teaching activities, the Rosey Impact Accelerator and the MITdesignX Le Rosey programme introduce startups in residence and real-world challenges, positioning experimentation and failure as part of the innovation process. The Tech Lab, Pitch Room, large-scale science labs and informal gathering areas complete a system where knowledge, testing and interaction continuously reinforce one another. Architecture does not operate as a neutral container, but as an infrastructure designed to generate ideas, challenge them and circulate them. From this perspective, premium value does not derive from exclusivity as a symbol, but from the depth of the educational experience itself.
