I’ve always been impressed by the quality standards of certain brands that, through consistency and coherence over time, manage to generate above-average levels of anticipation and curiosity with every new project they launch. This inevitably has a remarkable impact on brand image and sales performance.
These days, Hermès is unveiling “Mystery at the Groom’s” in New York, its second interactive installation, set within Pier 36. Following its debut in Shanghai in 2023, the project marks a new direction in experiential engagement, blending craftsmanship, storytelling, and digital interaction to reinforce the brand’s identity.
The initiative aligns with the growing trend of theatrical retail, where the product is not simply displayed, but experienced. Set in a fictional French estate, guests are invited to solve a mystery using their smartphones to receive clues as they navigate through a series of meticulously designed spaces. Hermès products are seamlessly integrated into the narrative, showcasing the versatility and artistic value of the maison.
Beyond visibility, the goal is to deepen emotional connection with customers through an immersive experience that is free to attend and open to walk-ins during designated time slots. After New York, the installation will travel to Tokyo, Singapore, and Paris, further demonstrating the brand’s commitment to innovative and global experiential formats.
