A close friend recently invited me to visit Alaïa’s new store on Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, the third in a Parisian trilogy, which also houses an unexpected new outpost of Milanese restaurant Sant Ambroeus.
Located in a historic address in the 8th arrondissement, renowned for its galleries, luxury boutiques, and government buildings, the store follows the recent renovation of Alaïa’s London flagship, which included the opening of a bookstore and café on the top floor. The Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré location strikes the perfect balance between exclusivity and warmth, featuring the hidden Le Café Sant Ambroeus, a Milanese restaurant tucked away on the mezzanine.
The design was approached as a sculptural project, curated by architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, founders of SANAA, in collaboration with Alaïa’s creative director Pieter Mulier. As with the brand’s other stores, the space harmoniously blends art, design, and fashion.
