Walking through these spaces, I immediately sense the weight and subtlety of an idea that transcends mere aesthetics. I am struck by how every detail engages in dialogue with both history and the present, and how this vision transforms time and space into an intense and rarefied cultural immersion.
Villa Lontana was conceived as an independent platform dedicated to the dialogue between ancient and contemporary practices in visual arts and sound, developing over time a layered approach that encompasses exhibitions, publications, screenings, artist editions, and sound projects. Founded by Vittoria Bonifati in collaboration with Jo Melvin, it has established a curatorial identity grounded in research and the highest quality of content. Through Villa Lontana Records, created together with Michele Ferrari, the project extends this trajectory into the archival and experimental electronic music fields.
The recent renovation of its spaces, entrusted to Studio Strato, marks a new phase of maturity, transforming the architecture into a narrative device. Within this context, Bar Far, a site-specific intervention by Keith-Roach and Page, animates the interior with a total artwork where sculpture, painting, and construction converge. Plaster reliefs that appear as structural elements and perspectival wall paintings that shift perception create an environment suspended between ruin and prophecy. The space invites close attention, revealing the subtle interplay between illusion and reality. A program of live performances will further activate this cultural ecosystem, establishing the project as a reference point for those seeking high-value symbolic experiences and a vision capable of traversing time.
