For at least two decades, I have observed Seoul with close attention and admiration for its creative prowess—often bold in looking forward while remaining faithful to the core principles of its culture. Like all professionals in our field, we often operate in fast-forward mode, and certain places in the world shine as beacons for our eyes.
In Seongdong, an emerging district of Seoul, the Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster has launched the fourth Haus Nowhere location, a project that redefines the boundaries of traditional shopping, following openings in Dosan, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. The latest outpost in the Future Retail series elevates the shopping experience to an immersive, hyper-conceptual level.
The new flagship stands out with 14 floors of artistic installations and futuristic architecture, transforming retail into a narrative journey that intertwines fashion, art, and technology. The concept for Seoul, “The Future Returned,” integrates the group’s diverse brands: from Gentle Monster eyewear to Tamburins fragrances, experimental bakery Nudake, and the new tableware brand Nuflaat.
The centerpiece is Tamburins’ monumental dachshund, an interactive sculpture that has already gone viral on social media, symbolizing Haus Nowhere’s ambition to create not just stores, but experiential universes capable of attracting an international community. This new space serves as a manifesto for the future of retail, reinforcing the group’s global positioning strategy.
