A few years ago, this project was very well received, and I wanted to revisit it after recently reading an article about it. I find it still highly relevant today, despite the passage of time and the incredible growth of the company.
Founded in 2010 as an innovative start-up, On has grown to become a global leader in the running shoe market.
Located in the vibrant Zurich West district, the company’s new headquarters, designed by local architects EM2N, accommodates around 1,000 employees in a 17-story building. The interior design by Spillmann Echsle, in collaboration with Specific Generic from Stockholm, complements the building’s architectural logic and creates a spatial connection between the two distinct product development worlds housed within. At the base of the structure, spanning four floors, is the “laboratory,” while the upper “quarters” house the marketing, logistics, and sales operations.
The ground floor features a reception area with an integrated bar and store. One floor above, a spacious two-story meeting and co-working area is open to external visitors, establishing a connection with the surrounding city.
