With a spirit connected to the power of ideas—a concept that is particularly dear to me—the new cultural space of Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti in Rome is now opening through the FVG Foundation.
After extensive restoration, a building located at Piazza Mignanelli 23—just a few steps away from the Valentino headquarters—will reopen in May under the name “PM23.” Its program will focus on the concept that “beauty creates beauty,” hosting art and fashion exhibitions, workshops, screenings, artist residencies, and cultural events.
Beauty has always been a guiding force and a deep source of inspiration for the founders, who have consistently sought to celebrate it, explore its infinite nuances, and share it with the world.
Although both Garavani and Giammetti are passionate collectors, the museum will not be dedicated to their personal collections.
While little has been revealed about the inaugural exhibition, it has been confirmed that it will focus on the postmodern period, featuring loans from around the world, including works by Francis Bacon and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
The opening of the center in Piazza Mignanelli marks a return to cultural programming that began nearly thirty years ago. Since 1990, Garavani and Giammetti hosted exhibitions in the building under the name “Accademia Valentino,” including a monograph on Polish-French artist Balthus and a retrospective on the brand’s fashion over its first three decades.
