Design has always been a deep passion of mine, especially because it has a strong connection to the work I do every day. Industrial design is ubiquitous, affecting and improving our lives, whether it’s product or service design. Design includes aesthetics, materials, planning, functionality, and sustainability.
Throughout the year, the ADI Design Museum in Milan, and later the WeGil space in Rome, will showcase products and services that have distinguished themselves in various categories of the design discipline.
The ADI Design Index is therefore a crucial moment of synthesis and preselection that, together with the one to be presented in 2022, will set the stage for the 28th edition of the Compasso d’Oro, scheduled for 2024, on the 70th anniversary of the award’s creation.
The award was created in 1954 on the initiative of Gio Ponti with the support of Rinascente.
ADI, the Association for Industrial Design, has made significant progress over the years, bringing together designers, companies, researchers, teachers, critics and journalists since 1956 to discuss design-related issues such as planning, consumption, recycling and education.
The association has played a key role in the development of industrial design as a cultural and economic phenomenon.
During the opening of the Milan exhibition, the new logo of the ADI Design Index, the new Scientific Committee and the select group of experts who coordinate the selection work of the Permanent Observatory of Design were also presented.
