I consider the strength of a project to lie in its ability to stage material culture without reducing it to decoration. When creativity establishes meaningful connections between disciplines, emotion and historical space, it generates a framework where aesthetic sensitivity and cultural vision reinforce each other in a tangible way.
Fondazione Dries Van Noten opens in Venice at Palazzo Pisani Moretta with The only true protest is beauty, curated by Dries Van Noten with Geert Bruloot. The project positions beauty as a force capable of provoking, transforming and challenging perceptual habits, shifting the focus from the display of objects to the construction of an active dialogue between different creative languages. Fashion, jewelry, design, art, photography, glass, ceramics and material experimentation are presented as a network of relationships, where affinities and contrasts generate intensity. A second defining element is the role of the historic space. The rooms of the palazzo do not act as a neutral backdrop, but as an active presence shaping the interaction between forms, materials and narratives. Along the progression from the ground floor to the piano nobile, more than two hundred works resonate with ceilings, frescoes and ornamental details, creating a sequence that alternates reflection and discovery. Within this initiative, craftsmanship emerges both as an expressive language and as a field of research, framed by a curatorial direction that transforms the visit into an experience of exploration and critical engagement.
