I came across a fascinating story about Mexican architects ODAmx and Rubén Valdez, who designed a restaurant in a former mechanic’s workshop in Guadalajara that was named Restaurant and Bar Interior of the Year 2023 and Interiors Project of the Year 2023 by renowned design platform Dezeen.
Originally, the space had only four tables and seating for 16 guests.
Now, the interior is adorned with dark gray plaster to create an intimate atmosphere, with a 15-meter long dining table for a communal experience.
Hundreds of corn cobs suspended from the ceiling add a unique touch of color.
The dark gray tones gracefully cede the spotlight to vibrant, colorful food palettes.
The goal was to maintain intimacy and connection between diners and chefs.
The architectural design acts as a catalyst for reinterpreting Mexican culinary traditions, fostering a shared dining experience where barriers between diners, staff, and food preparation are nonexistent.
