When I first heard about the petit h project, I thought it sounded simple, but in reality, it’s incredibly challenging for a brand with such a strong, established identity. Blending heritage with modernity, production with sustainability, and new products with desirability is true innovation.
Hermès’ petit h line transforms discarded materials into surprising yet functional items, highly collectible and uniquely chic. Designers, artisans, and specialists reimagine unused materials like glass and porcelain to create whimsical yet practical art pieces. The charm of these objects lies in their limited production and the fact that no two are ever alike.
Founded in 2010 by Pascale Mussard, the oldest member of the sixth generation of the Hermès family, petit h was ahead of its time in embracing sustainability. Mussard started as a child, collecting leftover materials from the ateliers and giving them new life with the help of master artisans.
Notable examples include a bag with legs, a basketball hoop made of calfskin and silk, and a beech stool with a storage compartment, trimmed with bullcalf and porosus crocodile, featuring a Kelly clasp.
