Ferrari is venturing into the world of sailing with an unprecedented project: Hypersail, the brand’s first ocean-going full-foiling monohull. It’s a bold move that marks the Cavallino Rampante’s entry into a new realm of endurance racing, pushing the boundaries of innovation and technology.
Unveiled in a special preview in Maranello, Hypersail is a high-performance sailing yacht over 30 meters long, featuring twin rudders, room for more than eight people, and a design inspired by Ferrari’s hypercars. It will be powered entirely by renewable energy sources, combining wind and solar power to ensure autonomy and sustainability.
The project is being developed entirely in-house, with approximately 90% of prototype components manufactured at Ferrari’s own facility in Maranello. Key technologies—including advanced carbon fiber applications, energy management systems, and sophisticated stability software—bridge both the automotive and nautical worlds. Notably, the suspension control algorithm used in Ferrari road cars has been adapted to ensure the monohull’s stability under extreme ocean conditions.
Set for official launch in 2026, Hypersail aims to become the world’s first fully “full-foiling” transoceanic sailboat, capable of lifting above the water and gliding over waves. With this initiative, Ferrari is not only extending its racing DNA to the open seas but is also reaffirming its commitment to radical, sustainable technological innovation—an inspiration for a new generation of enthusiasts.
