Although it wasn’t an area I initially expected to see such groundbreaking innovation, a few months ago the floating cultural center Salmon Eye was completed in Norway.
Designed by the Danish studio Kvorning Design, with customized acoustic solutions from Kvadrat Acoustic, this unique project has quickly become an eye-catcher.
Visible from afar, Salmon Eye is striking with its 9,500 stainless steel scales and bold, curved architecture that houses a restaurant.
Located near the village of Rosendal on the Hardangerfjord – the fifth largest fjord in the world – the floating structure is a striking new landmark on Norwegian waters.
The vision behind the project, developed by Kvorning Design, is to raise awareness of aquaculture, with a strong focus on sustainable salmon farming practices.
The initiative was led by Sondre Eide, an entrepreneur from one of the leading salmon trading companies, who wanted to create a symbolic space to inspire thoughtful decisions about sustainable fishing.
