Within the most advanced areas of mobility, I find the most relevant projects to be those capable of making a still-distant imaginary feel credible. For me, innovation does not only coincide with technology, but with the ability to transform an experimental vision into a new cultural and design language.
At the Beijing Auto Show 2026, XPeng introduced through its Aridge division the Land Aircraft Carrier project, a modular platform combining ground transportation and personal aerial mobility. More than a simple concept car, the system is presented as a possible evolution of contemporary urban lifestyle, where freedom of movement, autonomy, and flexibility begin to merge into a single experience. The project consists of a road vehicle and a detachable two-seat aerial module designed to operate in an integrated way. The ground component acts as both transport and charging platform, while the aircraft can be used for short urban and extra-urban journeys. The value of the initiative lies primarily in constructing a new narrative around mobility: no longer a car conceived as an isolated object, but a platform capable of extending the relationship between individuals, cities, and time. Presented within one of the world’s most important automotive exhibitions, the concept also reinforces China’s growing role as a space for experimentation for a new generation of projects connected to AI, energy, and advanced mobility. In this context, flight becomes above all a cultural symbol of transformation and possibility.
