Personally, I think this is a bit like when we had to adjust to the transition from fax to email. Now we are witnessing (or rather, getting used to) professional tasks that we never thought could be automated, or in this case, done by a robot.
Companies like Sweetgreen are automating the preparation and assembly of vegetable salads.
In May, the company opened its first location with its own robot.
After customers place their orders online or on a screen in the restaurant, the robot quickly dispenses ingredients such as kale, chopped vegetables, and cooked meats through cylindrical dispensers onto bowls that move along a conveyor belt.
Some employees are responsible for adding condiments and toppings before the salads are delivered to customers.
The company claims the system can cut labor and salad preparation time by more than half, and envisions robots becoming standard at future locations.
While some are skeptical of the opportunity, others are trying to figure out how to add automation to their experience, but are not willing to start from scratch.
