Every now and then in this section of the b-f-t-m website, we take a look at sectors that aren’t strictly part of our core business, but we believe it’s interesting to explore projects with deep creative and cultural roots. Over the past forty years, Shenzhen has emerged as one of China’s most prosperous cities, with a GDP that now surpasses that of neighbouring Hong Kong. Needless to say, the city has forged an ever-expanding infrastructure to support the good life of its residents, and the opening of Brewtown is testament to this ongoing trend. An initiative by two affiliated companies, CR Land and CR Beer, the venue taps into China’s status as the world’s largest beer market and its steadily growing consumption. In this way, Brewtown aims to offer visitors an immersive experience that fuses the history of beer brewing with the forward-looking spirit of Shenzhen.
Subterranean public spaces rarely capture attention as dynamic environments, yet Brewtown challenges this perception by transforming its vast underground area into a vibrant hub. For businesses, Brewtown shows how blending commerce with culture can create fresh opportunities in a rapidly growing urban environment. Despite being a commercial space, the project sets itself apart with a powerful narrative that connects creativity, community, and culture through thoughtful design. Occupying a vast 184,125 sqm (1,981,905 sq.ft.), it features a food hall, public corridors, restrooms, and a lobby designed by AIM Architecture. The architectural style, inspired by the beer brewing process, uses repeated structural forms and warm, tactile materials to evoke both tradition and transformation.
Brewtown highlights the power of combining cultural authenticity with smart business strategies to create experiences that resonate with urban consumers—while opening up new revenue streams for forward-thinking developers.
