Today’s content highlights the innovative approach to visualizing distinct thematic spaces—a challenging yet rewarding aspect of architecture. In my experience, creative exercises like this are rare, especially when functionality must seamlessly integrate with aesthetics.
Chinese design firm One Plus Partnership employed red bricks—crafted from sand—to create wave-like surfaces in the lobby of a cinema in Haikou, China. These undulating forms emerge from floors and ceilings, shaping a reception counter, tables, and seating areas.
The design of the Haikou Gaoxingli Insun Cinema, located in the coastal capital of Hainan Island, drew inspiration from the rippling surface of the sea. While reflecting the oceanic surroundings, the project stands out for its distinctive and unconventional interpretation of this natural element.
