I’ve seen this idea circulating in the American media for some time, and now it’s becoming a reality. An idea that evolves into innovation and triumphs in sustainability: a water-filtering floating river pool.
Say goodbye to polluted rivers: from New York comes a pool that cleans them. The pool filters bacteria and pollutants to keep the water clean. The idea came from three young architects.
To achieve something great, you have to believe that the impossible is possible. This is probably the mindset that inspired the three young architects who conceived + POOL, a project capable of filtering New York’s rivers. How did they do it? By imagining a floating pool in the river itself, designed to remove bacteria and pollutants to keep the water clean.
The pool will be able to clean half a million gallons of river water every day. + POOL is designed for all types of swimmers, which is why it’s created as four pools in one: a kiddie pool, a sport pool, an Olympic-sized pool, and a lounge pool.
Now that +Pool has a home at Pier 35, starting in 2025, New Yorkers will be able to connect with their waterfront and swim for free in a way that hasn’t been possible since the 1800s.
