While waiting for one of the last tunnels on Kyushu Island to be connected to the road network, the Yabakei Tunnel Hotel was built.
The hotel was designed as an ephemeral and temporary hospitality concept using the tunnel and part of a new bridge built at the tunnel’s exit.
Conceived by Fumihiko Sano Studio, an architectural firm that combines art, architecture, and design, the project is unique in its kind and very creative in offering guests a memorable experience: from the style of accommodation to the food and beverage service to the evening DJ set.
